‘God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.’
‘Lord, grant me the strength to change the things I can, the serenity to deal with the things I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference.’
Serenity Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Often been attributed to St. Francis, but earliest known forms of it appeared in the early 20th century, and it is generally credited to Reinhold Niebuhr.
Alcoholics Anonymous uses the Serenity Prayer as a meditation to reflect upon and a source of succor.
La prière de la sérénité:
‘Mon Dieu, donnez moi la sérénité d’accepter les choses que je ne peux changer,
le courage de changer les choses que je peux, et la sagesse d’en connaître la différence.’
